DP World will invest $1 million over four quarters in Hapag-Lloyd's Ship Green carbon insetting programme, expected to avoid 4,762 tonnes of CO2 via certified waste-based biofuel. Unlike offsetting, insetting replaces conventional fuel directly on the customer's own shipments.
Velocys launched the AlphaCore 400 microchannel reactor, roughly doubling capacity per unit while cutting FT unit cost, the first step in a roadmap to scale SAF production. The design targets larger, centralised facilities rather than smaller distributed plants FT has traditionally suited.
ACME signed export deals with Japan's IHI and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical for 405,000 tonnes of green ammonia and 100,000 tonnes of green methanol annually, backed by subsidies on both sides. The agreements sit under India's National Green Hydrogen Mission, giving lenders a demand signal.
Sinopec completed its takeover of China National Aviation Fuel Group, integrating refining and distribution as jet fuel demand is projected to hit 75 million tonnes by 2040. Critics warn it could squeeze private SAF producers; analysts expect it to accelerate SAF expansion.
The UK's DfT published its allocation strategy for the Revenue Certainty Mechanism, a contract-for-difference scheme helping SAF producers reach FID. SAF AR1 opens Q1 2027, targeting up to 230,000 tonnes of capacity, funded through a levy on aviation fuel suppliers.
China's "Beautiful China" 15th Five-Year Plan targets a 7-10% emissions cut below peak by 2035. Within its transport measures: calls to develop SAF and advance CCUS, alongside airport electrification and port shore power, plans that typically trigger ministry-level policy within years.
Malaysia raised its biodiesel blend from B10 to B15, absorbing roughly 801,000 tonnes of palm oil while explicitly protecting export volumes. It follows Vietnam's E10 mandate and precedes Indonesia's B50, three Southeast Asian biofuel mandates within eight weeks, all citing energy security.
Vietnam rolled out a nationwide E10 mandate, requiring all gasoline sold to blend 10% ethanol. Domestic production covers only a quarter of the 100,000 cubic metres needed monthly, with imports filling the gap. It lands alongside a broader regional biofuel policy pickup.
Sinopec Engineering signed a FEED contract with Uzbekistan's Allied Biofuels to design Central Asia's first integrated SAF complex, combining biomass-based SAF and e-SAF using sorghum, rice husks and solar power, targeting Central Asian, Middle Eastern and European markets.
Indonesia's Pertamina signed an MOU with Boeing to develop a domestic SAF industry, covering feedstock, technology and policy. Pertamina's SAF work draws on used cooking oil via Cilacap, a separate feedstock pool from the palm-oil-based B50 mandate, reducing cross-sector competition.
Indonesia launched its mandatory B50 biodiesel mandate, raising palm-oil-based FAME content from 40% to 50%, framed as energy independence amid Middle East conflict. As the world's largest palm oil producer, the move pulls supply into fuel and away from export markets.
Singapore's Parliament backed an S$800 million transport research package, RIE2030, spanning AI and autonomy. Within its maritime portion, funding is earmarked for alternative-fuel safety research, including leak detection, supporting the shift to biofuel, methanol and ammonia bunkering.
