CIMC Enric, a clean energy equipment and services provider, has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Sinopec Fuel Oil Sales, covering LNG, green methanol, shipbuilding and new energy for marine applications. The agreement was signed by Yang Xiaohu, executive director and president of CIMC Enric, and Xu Tao, deputy general manager of Sinopec Fuel Oil.

### **Building on a Four-Year Working Relationship, Not Starting Fresh**

The two companies began working together in October 2022, initially focused narrowly on LNG and CNG storage and transportation equipment. That relationship has since broadened into marine equipment, green methanol bunkering, storage and transportation equipment, and external gas-source procurement. This new agreement formalises that gradual expansion into a five-area strategic partnership, energy-resource cooperation, shipbuilding, marine-fuel bunkering, vehicle-related services and integrated services, rather than establishing a new relationship between two previously unconnected companies.

### **Why an Equipment Company and a Fuel Distributor Are Deepening Ties**

CIMC Enric specialises in equipment for the clean-energy sector; Sinopec Fuel Oil brings the resource and supply network of its parent, China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation. Both companies frame their complementary capabilities as the basis for moving beyond a conventional equipment-supply relationship toward broader cooperation integrating equipment, fuels, applications and technology, meaning the agreement is explicitly about combining hardware manufacturing with fuel distribution and supply, rather than either company expanding into the other's core business independently.

### **SAF's Role Is Directional, Not Yet Operational**

The agreement states the companies plan to expand into emerging marine fuels and energy solutions, including green methanol and SAF, alongside developing bunkering solutions such as truck-to-ship services. This mirrors the pattern seen in Sinopec's broader restructuring covered elsewhere in this series, aviation and marine fuel distribution consolidating and extending into adjacent low-carbon fuel categories, though this specific agreement names SAF as a future direction for the partnership rather than detailing a specific SAF production or distribution project already underway.

### **What Remains Unspecified**

No financial terms, target volumes, specific port locations, or implementation timeline were disclosed. The companies say they will establish a regular cooperation mechanism and develop detailed projects to accelerate implementation, meaning the mechanism for turning this five-area framework into specific, dated projects is itself still to be built.
