Topsoe has signed an agreement with First Ammonia to provide its dynamic ammonia synthesis technology for First Ammonia's green ammonia production facility in Victoria, Texas. The facility will use green hydrogen generated by electrolysis from renewable electricity to produce green ammonia for both international and US markets. Financial close is expected later in 2026, with commercial operations targeted for 2029.

### **What "Dynamic" Ammonia Synthesis Actually Means**

Topsoe's technology is designed specifically for green ammonia plants, where power supply is inherently variable because it depends on renewable generation. The synthesis loop can ramp production from 10% to 100% capacity, or reduce it at a similar rate, within thirty minutes, allowing the plant to track fluctuations in available renewable power while Topsoe states it maintains safe, reliable and efficient operation. That responsiveness matters because conventional ammonia synthesis technology, developed for a steady, always-on natural gas feedstock, is not designed to ramp that quickly without compromising either efficiency or safety.

### **A Continuing Relationship, Despite an Earlier Setback**

Topsoe and First Ammonia have worked together since 2022, and this agreement extends that relationship into ammonia synthesis technology specifically for the Texas project. It follows a separate development in March 2026, when the companies confirmed that earlier supply and service agreements covering 100 MW of Topsoe's SOEC electrolyzer modules, signed in 2024, would not be extended. This new agreement covers different technology, ammonia synthesis rather than electrolysis, for a different, specific project, indicating that the March non-renewal reflected a change in that particular electrolyzer arrangement rather than an end to the broader Topsoe-First Ammonia relationship.

### **What First Ammonia's Broader Strategy Looks Like**

First Ammonia describes itself as developing modular, commercial-scale green ammonia plants globally, acquiring project sites with access to low-cost renewable energy or government subsidies, and plans to build, own and operate facilities across five continents. The Victoria, Texas project is one site within that broader multi-continent development strategy, headquartered in New York with engineering and project development support based in Houston and Copenhagen.

Neither company disclosed the planned production capacity for the Victoria facility, project financing structure or total investment cost, or the specific mix of intended export destinations versus domestic US supply.
